But yes, everybody is well, and we are now preparing ourselves having six little puppies running around our family room in a few weeks! Oh boy!
Dinner time is over and Bella has retreated to her sofabed and is making sure the kids behave! There is a secret exit out of the compound for her to leave when she wants. Shhhh, don't tell the puppies!

New digs
Last night Tom and I moved the dachshund gang downstairs. It was starting to get a little hot upstairs and Bella was sure to let us know. She kept wanting to come downstairs and flatten her belly against the cool marble floors. But then she would get all stressed out about leaving the babies by themselves upstairs. So we schlepped the whole shebang downstairs in our family room and now everybody is happy: Bella because she is near us, Bacio because Bella is near him, me because I don't have to run up and down the stairs all day, and Puppy, well Puppy could care less. She is just hanging out on the sofa.

I was asked several times today how the puppies are doing and if Lainie is going to make it. I guess I have not really made that clear in my posts. All the pups are in excellent health, and yes, Lainie is thriving too! She is still the smallest one of the bunch, and there is no certainty she will ever be as big as her brothers. She sure is strong though, and does not let anything get in her way. For example, yesterday, the towel in the box had bunched up and exposed some of the laminate tile that lines the bottom of the box. Lainie was trying to nurse but had no traction with her little feet sliding away behind her on the slippery tile as she was trying to get closer. She voiced her complaint and did not give up, determined as she was. It was really funny to see.
